The Florida Highway Patrol and several local police agencies are investigating a shooting that left three people injured.
Police say it happened around 9:00 p.m. Friday near 167th street and 57th avenue in Miami Lakes. The driver told police that his blue Chevrolet Impala was stopped at a traffic light, when another car pulled up alongside.
That's when the driver says he heard gunshots. He then says he noticed his passengers had been wounded.
He drove away traveling several miles east along SR 826 until he spotted an Florida Highway Patrol trooper on the side if the road between NW 12th avenue and the Golden Glades Interchange in Miami Gardens. The trooper was issuing a ticket to another driver when the driver says he got out of his car, walked over to the trooper and told him about the wounded passengers.
That eastbound stretch of the Palmetto and the on ramp to I-95 were shutdown for at least two hours as the investigation by Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Miami-Dade Police and FHP began.
The victims were taken to the hospital. Police say they are in stable condition.
Police have not released a description of the other car used in the shooting.
