Police have arrested a man for armed robbery in Oakland Park who might have been trying to steal the identities of dozens of victims in South Florida. Vaughn Perriman, 26, made his first appearance before a judge in bond court on Friday after being charged with suspicion of armed robbery and and a probation violation. According to police, on Dec.19th, a woman coming home from dinner in Oakland Park noticed a man lurking near her front door. That man was Perriman, who according to detectives, was masked and armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Police said he lunged toward the victim, yanked her purse off her shoulder, and ran away. Two days later, when detectives were able to track the victim's purse using her cell phone that was still inside, they were led to the North Miami home where Perriman was staying, according to the arrest form. An officer found Perriman inside the house, hiding under a pile of clothes. At the house, officers found not only the victim's purse, but also other bags, credit cards, identifications, and Social Security cards from at least 30 other victims. Detectives say they found Perriman's gun with a bullet in the chamber and the hammer was cocked back and ready to fire. Perriman remains behind bars at the Broward County jail. Police said they have made contact with several people who believe Perriman robbed them. Detectives are asking anyone who thinks their credit cards or identification cards have been stolen to call the Broward Sheriff's Office or Broward Crimestoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
