Hillsboro Boulevard was closed in both directions Tuesday afternoon after a dump truck hit a worker on the west side of the Intracoastal Waterway Bridge.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said the worker was repaving the road when the truck hit him.
The worker was taken to North Broward Medical Center in very critical condition, BSO said.
Hillsboro Boulevard was closed in both directions from the beach to Northeast 12th Avenue. Pedestrian traffic was being allowed to cross the bridge, BSO said.
Drivers should expect delays until at least 3 p.m., investigators said.
