Taking the stand at her own sentencing Friday, Keisha Jackson did not deny physically hurting her young daughter.
But, she did say she was remorseful.
"I would want to sit in the facility that she's at right now and spoon-feed her if I had to. I would want to sit with her every day," Jackson said.
After hearing from Jackson, her family and the lead detective in her child abuse case, the judge ultimately sentenced her to 25 years in prison and five years of probation for aggravated child abuse. On the count of child neglect, she was ordered to five years of probation.
In February 2010, Jackson, then 20, drove her toddler to North Broward Medical Center after the toddler was found bleeding from the head.
According to the arrest affidavit, doctors discovered that the head trauma wasn't the girl's only injury and that those injuries were far from the first.
Police said Jackson admitted to biting her daughter, beating her with a belt, slapping her and shoving her into a wall inside their Pompano Beach duplex.
Jackson never called 911.
Doctors have declared the girl brain dead. She remains at Broward General Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale on life support.
