So. Fla. woman delivers baby at home

Shannon Edgecombe, pregnant with her 4th child, knew she was expecting a baby girl soon. She just didn't think the baby would come Thursday afternoon while she was at home.

As she walked through her house in Miami, Edgecombe said she felt a pain. Standing in the hallway, her water broke, and in about a minute, her baby girl was on her way out.

Thankfully, Edgecombe had a quick arm.

In one fell swoop, Edgecombe said she reached down and caught the infant before she could hit the floor, hoisting her quickly in her arms.

"I stand up, I catch her with one hand like this, put her right here and she started screaming and making noise," said Edgecombe.

In minutes, a neighbor rushed to the house after hearing some commotion. Not used to seeing babies, Edgecombe said he was shocked, but swift to help his neighbor who had just given birth.

Miami Fire Rescue Lieutenant Ignatius Carroll said the neighbor called 911 and a dispatcher helped him tie off the umbilical cord and clean off the baby girl. Paramedics arrived shortly afterwards.

"I feel lucky. But I'm in some pain," Edgecombe said.
