Last December, Zoo Miami and Local 10 asked viewers to nominate a student (ages 11-14) from Miami-Dade, Broward, or Monroe Counties who has volunteered to do something extraordinary to help the environment. Those students would get the chance of being selected as South Florida’s student “Eco-Hero.”
Every day this week, on both our morning and 5 p.m. newscasts, Local 10 will feature a different middle school student, hand-picked by Zoo Miami's Ron Magill, from the dozens of kids who were nominated.
Next week, you can log on and vote for your favorite student right here on this page.
The winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Cusco and the “Lost City” of Machu Picchu in Peru courtesy of Inkaterra Authentic Nature Travel.
The trip will be escorted by Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill and will be documented by Local 10 anchor Kristi Krueger.
Below are the five amazing finalists.

Starting next Monday, you'll see a poll at the bottom of this page where you can vote for your favorite.
The Grand Prize winner will be announced on Earth Day, April 22, 2013.
