A group of boaters were rushed to the hospital after being hurt on the Intracoastal Waterway.
It happened late Friday night.
Patrons at Duffy's Sports Grill reported seeing a boat racing down the waterway. A few minutes later the Coast Guard passed by as well.
"All of a sudden we saw speed boat racing real fast. I would say its going more than 60 mph which is really fast in this area," said Chris Vaca.
Five people were brought back to shore and rushed to the hospital.
Witnesses say at least one of them was seriously hurt.
"I could tell the second and third person really had a bad time. They couldn't even say anything they were in shock," said Vaca.
FWC is handling the investigation.
No word on whether the boat was speeding or if alcohol played a role in what happened.
