Four days after the election, President Barack Obama can finally claim victory in Florida.
The state finished counting its votes Saturday. Obama was declared the winner, giving him a 332 to 206 final margin in the Electoral College.
Florida officials said Obama had 50 percent of the vote to Republican Mitt Romney's 49.1 percent, a margin of about 74,000 votes.
"I say today, every ballot that we've had that a voter cast has been put into the report," said Broward Supervisor of Elections Dr. Brenda Snipes. "I think it has been a good election."
The win gave Obama victories in eight of nine critical swing states, losing only North Carolina. In addition to Florida, he won Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Wisconsin, Virginia, Colorado and Nevada.
The state of Florida was the last to indicate which presidential candidate earned its electoral votes.
Election officials in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties told Local 10’s Christina Vasquez several variables led to overwhelmed polling sites and time-consuming counting. A short period of early voting, a lengthy ballot and high voter turn-out all contributed to the delay.
On Election Day, some voters didn't cast a ballot until midnight, hours after most races had already been called.
President Obama alluded to Florida’s Election Day issues in his victory speech.
“I want to thank every American who participated in this election, whether you voted for the very first time...or waited in line for a very long time....by the way, we've got to fix that,” he said.
Officials told Vasquez the solution will be a topic of debate in the coming weeks.
“This is the first time I've seen the turnout we recorded for this election. I think it’s outstanding and I congratulate the voters,” said Snipes.
