A public defender says 18-year-old Pedro Bravo will plead not guilty to a first-degree murder charge in the death of University of Florida student and South Florida native Christian Aguilar.
Court records show that Bravo's family has requested a public defender to represent him.
Aguilar was last seen in a Gainesville Best Buy with Bravo. Aguilar's remains were found Oct. 12 in rural Levy County.
Police say Bravo originally told them that he beat Aguilar unconscious and then left him somewhere.
Aguilar's family is now preparing to hold his funeral Tuesday, Oct. 23rd, in Miami. The funeral mass will be held at 1 p.m. in St. Dominic's Catholic Church at 5909 NW 7th St. Following the funeral mass, the burial will be held at 3 p.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery at 11411 NW 25th St.
The funeral will be open to the public. Carlos Aguilar, Christian's father, says the public and media helped bring his son home for a proper burial.
