A Miami Beach police officer has been arrested.
The police department confirmed George Navarro, Jr. was arrested in a news release Thursday.
Chief Raymond A. Martinez issued a statement in the news release, saying: “This was an investigation initiated by the Miami Beach Police Department and it is part of the process of rooting out corruption in the department. I will not let the actions of one; tarnish this agency and the outstanding work that is done on an everyday basis by the men and women of the Miami Beach Police Department.”
No other details about his arrest were released.
A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, who is investigating, offered no comment about the case.
