Broward Sheriff's Office charges teen with burglary, arrests 6 others

A burglary investigation ended with Broward Sheriff's Office deputies making seven arrests.

Deputies arrested Salvador Mercado, 15, on August 22 for burglary. Mercado confessed to committing another burglary on August 7 in Oakland Park, leading police to arrest Nickolas Tarr, 17. Deputies said the teens admitted to stealing jewelry, electronics, and a gun.

Deputies said the teens sold the gun to Max Silverio, 21, who detectives say sells marijuana to high school and middle school students in the area. Inside Silverio's home, deputies found the stolen gun and drugs. Silverio was charged with possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.

The teens told police they sold the stolen jewelry to International Gold Buyers in Lauderhill. Store records showed the business was buying gold from people under 18-years-old, a misdemeanor. Four employees -- Dale Teelucksingh, 26; Manuel Dejesus, 26; Geleina Cordero, 31; and, Clyde Cerisier, 26 -- were arrested.
