Gunman shoots Lauderhill U-Save store clerk

Lauderhill police released photos of a gunman who shot a U-Save Convenience Store clerk in Lauderhill.

The shooting happened at 4039 Northwest 19th Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Lauderhill police said clerk Ramzi Foqahaa and a man had gotten into a fight earlier in the evening. The man then returned with a gun and shot the clerk several times.

Store owner Nash Nasser said the gunman was trying to cut in line when he became confrontational.

"He just didn't want to wait in line. That's all it was," Nasser said.

Foqahaa, 21, is listen in serious condition at Broward General Medical Center. Nasser fears he won't fully recover from his injuries.

"Doctors we spoke to said he's paralyzed basically. He has a bullet stuck in his spine. He's not going to be able to move," Nasser said.

Police are reviewing surveillance video as they search for the gunman.

Nasser said, in his 25 years as a store owner, he had never been held up at gunpoint. He said the gunman's actions were reckless.

"He shot somebody for no reason. He shot when there were six, seven customers inside the store -- carelessly. So I hope someone turns him in," he said.

The gunman is described as being 35 to 45-years-old, standing 5'6'' - 5'8'', heavy set, and with short hair.

Anyone with information about the gunman is asked to call Lauderhill police at 954-497-4700 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
