Police say a woman offered to marry a man for immigration status and pay him if he would kill her ex-boyfriend.
Jose Martin Perez-Sanchez, 21, of Miami Springs, and Dianelis De La Caridad-Fonseca, 22, of Hialeah, were arrested Friday in connection with the death of Richard Vasallo, 25.
Someone called police about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to report seeing a bleeding man walking in the area of Southwest 216th Street and Southwest 98th Court.
When officers arrived, they found Vasallo collapsed on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Miami-Dade police said De La Caridad offered to pay Perez-Sanchez $600 and marry him to establish U.S. permanent residency status if he killed Vasallo, her ex-boyfriend. After planning the killing, police said, De La Caridad lured Vasallo to a desolate area, and she and Perez-Sanchez fatally stabbed him.
Perez-Sanchez and De La Caridad-Fonseca each face a charge of first-degree murder in Vasallo's death.
Miami-Dade police said Perez-Sanchez and De La Caridad-Fonseca both confessed to the crime.
Vasallo, a Florida International University graduate, taught engineering classes at a South Florida technical school.
