A man was arrested Thursday in connection with a home invasion at a West Park woman's home in February.
The Broward Sheriff's Office said Robert Wimberly, 46, of Hollywood, is the man who burglarized Hitlen Brice's home in the 4400 block of Southwest 40th Street on Feb. 24.
According to investigators, Brice was preparing to take a shower that morning when she heard a noise in the dining room. When she went to see what it was, she was confronted by a strange man, BSO said.
Brice started screaming, and the man continued to approach, BSO said. Brice ran from her home and went to a neighbor for help.
Police said the burglar had gotten into Brice's home by breaking a window. When he was leaving through the same window, he cut his knee.
BSO said DNA evidence left there helped them to identify Wimberly as the suspect.
Wimberly was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and criminal mischief.
BSO said Wimberly told investigators he had broken into the home to steal jewelry.
