Vice President Joe Biden spoke Monday at Cypress Bay High School's graduation ceremony.

Cypress Bay is Broward County's largest school, with 950 graduating seniors. The ceremony was being held at Marlins Park.

Biden delivered a message of imagination to the students.

"Imagine. That's my simple advice to you today: imagine. Imagine the progress you will see and achieve in your lifetime. Imagine the breakthroughs that are on the horizon and just beyond it," Biden said.

The vice president and U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, along with administrators, shook the hands of each graduate.

The Marlins Park event was rescheduled after Biden could not make the originally planned event at the Bank United Center on Sunday because his daughter got married over the weekend in Delaware.

Wasserman Schultz invited Biden to speak at the event. Her three children will eventually attend Cypress Bay High.

Police and Secret Service agents were at the ballpark all day Monday to conduct a security sweep.

An estimated 7,500 people were in attendance. The event at Marlins Park was made possible by an anonymous $6,000 donation.

The school is ranked high academically, and about 98 percent of this year's grads plan to attend college.

Cypress Bay's was one of three commencement speeches Joe Biden was set to make this year. Last month, he spoke at the West Point Military Academy, and next week, he is visiting a high school in Virginia.
