These are all current headlines in South Florida:
-- An anesthesiologist who owns a cosmetic surgery center in Weston gets pulled over in Orlando and arrested for DUI. That part's not news. But the fact that Dr. Zachary Bird had $54,000 cash, two guns, unknown drugs, and had an epic meltdown during which he banged his own head into a bloody mess and then spit blood onto an FHP trooper's face qualifies.
-- Miami's Temple Israel cancels an appearance by a Democratic Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz because of "security concerns." The cancellation was announced by the temple's president, lawyer Ben Kuehne, after a Republican honcho named Stanley Tate resigned from the holy place in protest.
-- A poll finds that a majority of Floridians still favor the controversial Stand Your Ground laws that give gun wielders a wider berth to shoot and kill.
-- A 58-year-old man was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail on an aggravated assault charge after allegedly threatening three women with a gun so he could cut in front of them at a drive-thru lane at McDonalds.
-- The city manager of Hollywood is arrested for DUI after a little partying at Swinging Richards, a "premiere" fully nude gay strip club in North Miami.
There's more but that should be enough to get you into your weekend.
