March of Dimes hosts its annual March for Babies Saturday at Tropical Park in Miami.
The event raises money and awareness for stronger, healthier babies. Despite the soggy forecast, thousands will join Local 10's Laurie Jennings and this year's Celebrity Ambassador Mom, supermodel Niki Taylor, to participate in the three-mile walk.
The funds raised will help the more than 230,000 Florida babies born every year survive and thrive with proper support. Last year more than 9,000 people walked, raising more than $1.6 million. Registration and pre-event celebrations begin at 7:30 a.m., opening ceremonies start at 8:30 a.m. and the walk gets underway at 9 a.m. There is no cost to participate, but all walkers are asked to raise a minimum of $200.
