Florida law enforcement officials say they have arrested 48 men in the latest statewide roundup of suspected online predators and child pornography traders.
Results of the six-month investigation were announced at a Thursday news conference in Tampa. Around 100 cases were investigated, and Florida Department of Law Enforcement Commissioner Gerald Bailey says more arrests are expected.
Bailey says those arrested in 17 counties include a federal Transportation Security Administration agent, a school teacher's aide and a church treasurer. Charges against the suspects include possession of child pornography, attempted lewd and lascivious assault and sexual performance by a child.
Officials say the combining of the Attorney General's Office Child Predator Cybercrime Unit with the FDLE's Computer Crime Center in July streamlined the process of investigating online predators.
