Flames and black smoke could be seen shooting from the roof of the transmission and tire warehouse. Officials said burning car fluids, tires and other caustic materials were causing the black smoke.

"Smoke was everywhere. Everybody was running, screaming, and my guts told me to get out and just run far, far away," said witness Alberto Norales.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said all firefighters were told to get out of the structure soon after they arrived because a back wall collapsed.

Many of the surrounding businesses were evacuated.

Fifty fire trucks were at the scene of the blaze. Firefighters said they were able to prevent the flames from spreading to any other areas.

By 5 p.m., it appeared that the blaze was out, but firefighters continued to pour water on it to make sure it did not flare back up.

Firefighters said it was the biggest fire they had seen since a fuel pump blaze a year ago at Miami International Airport.

No injuries were reported.

It is unclear what started the fire.
