After a month-long search, police have arrested a school athletic director accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
Paul Michael Mira, 29, was arrested Monday in Polk County on two counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a child.
Miami-Dade police said Mira, the athletic director at Archimedean Middle Conservatory and Archimedean Upper Conservatory, "used his position to engage in unlawful sexual conduct with the victim."
A warrant was issued for Mira’s arrest on Nov. 22. Police said Mira had told several relatives that he would commit suicide before being arrested.
Mira is awaiting extradition to Miami-Dade County.
Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
