Fire departments from across Broward County are holding high-rise rescue drills on an overpass near the Turnpike and I-595.
The structure, which is under construction, does not connect to a roadway, making it ideal for firefighters to train.

"This could happen at any minute. We're constantly going on construction accidents in the area," said Battalion Fire Chief Jorge Gonzalez with Davie Fire Rescue.
The training exercise involves a construction worker suffering a heart attack and firefighters having to respond as quickly as possible.
In one scenario, crews used a fire truck ladder to bring the worker down. The other involved hoisting a firefighter 50 feet in the air in order to lower the victim.
"This bridge here, there is no beginning or end to it and that's the scenario we run into at a construction site," said Capt. Andy Berkowitz with the Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue.
The exercise is being spread across several days in order to give firefighters at each of the departments an opportunity to train with one another.
