A Coral Springs shopping center was shut down after a fire early Tuesday morning destroyed a Massage Envy and damaged two other businesses.

Fire officials said the blaze began at a Massage Envy store at 10391 Royal Palm Blvd.

Flames broke out at Massage Envy and spread quickly. A commuter saw smoke and called for help.

"As soon as we got the call, our units were on scene within two minutes," said Capt. Mike Moser.

The massage parlor was a total loss, officials said.

The quick response kept the fire from spreading to GNC and a child care center next door. Those two businesses had smoke and water damage after the fire.

"I was really, really hoping and praying that everything was OK, more concerned for everybody's safety that our physical property," said Playaway Babysitting Center owner Audrey Gajus.

Gajus said the day care center takes care of 60 children at a time, and she is thankful no one was in the center when the fire broke out.

"Were relieved that it happened early in the morning when there was no children here. It was not a safety issue. That's always our biggest issue that everyone is safe," said Gajus.

"There has been some employees out here who were visibly upset, just upset that their business is damaged," said Moser.

Police said they do not consider the fire suspicious, but the cause remains under investigation.

A building inspector deemed the shopping plaza not safe and closed it for several days.
