Employees at a Fort Lauderdale fast-food restaurant wrestled a robber to the ground Monday and held him until police arrived, investigators said.
Fort Lauderdale police said the man tried to rob a Burger King at 666 W. Broward Blvd. about 6:30 a.m. According to police, the man waited for a customer to pull up to the drive-through window, and when the cashier opened the register, he jumped on the hood of the customer's vehicle and jumped in the drive-through window.

The man pushed employee Tanya Calvin aside and started grabbing cash from the register, police said.
But, when the man tried to crawl out the drive-through window, Calvin grabbed his shirt, so he could not leave, police said. Two other employees wrestled the man to the ground and held him there until Fort Lauderdale officers arrived, according to investigators.
"I'm just glad they were there. If not, it might have turned out a different way," Calvin said.
The man, whom police identified as Edwin Walker, 31, of Fort Lauderdale, was arrested on a charge of strong-arm robbery.
"I'm just glad no one got hurt," Calvin said.
