Fans of the Heat and people who work near the AmericanAirlines Arena were welcoming the news that the NBA lockout could soon be over.
"A lot of people come when we have a Heat game," said Cesar Quiroz, a valet parking attendant who works in downtown Miami.
At Miss Yip Chinese Cafe, the manager said the canceled games in November hurt business, but did not get into specifics.
The canceled games and constant talk of no NBA season hurt fans, too.
"This is what we live for. Little kids grow up to see the players play," said Daniel Floyd, a Heat fan.
The season is expected to begin on Christmas day. Both the owners and the players must approve the proposed deal.
