Shooting Guard Ray Allen has exercised his player option for the 2013-14 season and will return to the Miami Heat.
Allen, a 17-year NBA veteran, appeared in 79 games with the Heat this season, averaging 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 25.8 minutes per game.
If Allen had opted out he could have earned as much as $3.7 million from the Heat instead of the $3.2 million that he will make next season.
Allen is returning to the Heat on his existing contract, which is the final year of a two-year deal.
