A traffic stop led to a big drug bust in the Florida Keys, according to deputies.

Monroe County Sheriff's deputies said it all started when a car did not stop at an intersection in Marathon around 10 p.m. on Wednesday. Deputy Nicholis Whiteman pulled over the SUV. When the driver rolled down his window, Whiteman said he smelled a strong odor of marijuana.

Deputies said Giuseppe Melia, 22, and John Kornetti, 20, then admitted having marijuana in the car.

Deputies then found two plastic bags, containing 472 grams of marijuana. That is just more than a pound. A digital scale was also found in the truck.

Melia was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to sell. Kornetti was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both taken to jail.
