It's the busiest days for flowers and all things heart-shaped, pink and red.

For the Ristick family of Hollywood, Valentine's Day is the Super Bowl. They've been setting up a roadside stand full of romance-inspiring goodies for more than six years on Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

Special Section: Valentine's Day

"We've been doing it for a long time," said Noah Stevens, a cousin.

For several weeks, the entire family puts together gift baskets by hand in their living room. It's a labor of love.

"First, we tape the bear to the basket. Then, we add the lingerie or bath sets. Got to make it look right, have the right colors inside, make it match," Stevens said.

Late Tuesday afternoon, customers on their way home from work started pulling in for last-minute gifts.

"This, of course, is a very large bear. For love of my life, better half," said Devin Ganesh, holding an oversized, white teddy bear.

Ganesh was among the group of mostly men who stopped to make purchases on their way home. Stevens said he wasn't surprised by the turnout.

"Yeah, mostly guys," he said.

At Field of Flowers in Davie, most last-minute customers were men, as well. A holiday that's supposed to inspire romance seems to put of a lot of pressure on the male half.

That is, unless you're 11-year-old Andrew Hurowitz. He's got his own problems.

"I have many valentines. I don't want to go through the list because it will go on forever," he said.
