State inspectors ordered a Mexican restaurant in Homestead shut for the second time after an inspector found rodent issues in the kitchen.
Pericos Mexican Restaurant was ordered shut down also in July of 2012, state records show.
State inspectors with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation also ordered three other South Florida restaurants shut last week because of "high priority" violations. Below is a list of the restaurants and some of the violations:
Sushi Siam 5582 Northeast 4th Court Miami 15 violations:
"Dead roaches on premises. One dead roach in reach in cooler along gaskets containing food products."
"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Approximately 40 live roaches in reach in cooler with food products, one on kitchen floor and one on wall."
Catering by Lovables 860 Northeast 79th Street Miami 24 violations:
"Dead roaches on premises. Observed about 5 big dead roaches in the area of mop sink, unused and old wic, and the dry storage area. Also observed dead small roaches inside and old ice machine."
"Rodent activity present as evidenced by rodent droppings found. Observed about 50 mixed fresh and dried rodents droppings behind cooking equipment and below the shelves of the dry storage area."
"Roach activity present as evidenced by live roaches found. Observed two live roaches inside old ice machine and dishwasher. Observed three lives roaches inside the crevices of three compartments sink. Two more live roaches at the other end of the prep table in food prep area. About 35 plus roaches underneath the prep table in food prep area in kitchen."
Pericos Restaurant 1661 Northeast 8th Street Homestead 20 violations:
"Observed rodent activity as evidenced by rodent droppings found. 20 plus semi fresh droppings found under prep-table."
"Live roaches found behind 3 part sink. 15 plus live roaches in kitchen."
Dabelle Capoise Restaurant 13518 Memorial Highway North Miami 35 violations:
"Observed dead roaches on premises. Observed 20 dead inside light cover in kitchen."
"Observed 17 live roaches behind stream table where ready to eat food is kept and 63 under three compartment sink in kitchen next to reach in freezer."
