A portion of Northwest 87th Avenue was closed Tuesday afternoon after a water main break, the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department said.
The street was closed between Northwest 170th and 178th streets after a 36-inch water main failed at about 2:30 p.m., officials said.
Officials said crews were already there trying to upgrade the system when the current water main failed. Because they had the trench open already, they were able to get to the pipe and shut it down quickly.
Thirteen homes were without water starting at 2:30 p.m.
Crews are working to repair the water main.
Water and Sewer Department officials said the repairs are expected to be done Tuesday evening, and the road will be reopened.
