A Miami-Dade police detective who was stabbed by an inmate during a prisoner transport in Texas will speak with the media Thursday.
Jaime Pardinas is scheduled to speak at 10 a.m. at the Miami-Dade Police Department headquarters in Doral. The 28-year veteran arrived back in South Florida Tuesday.
Alberto Morales stabbed Pardinas four times while in the parking lot of a Walmart in Grapevine, Texas, on Feb. 11, police say.
The convicted sex offender was shot and killed by police four days later, according to the Southlake Police Department in Texas.
Marinka Stuvel, Pardinas' girlfriend, said Monday that he is slowly recovering, and mentioned that he has been eating and talking.
