Miami-Dade police officers were in a shooting standoff with multiple suspects Tuesday night, police say.
It started just after 7 p.m. when narcotics detectives said they approached the house at 15415 SW 57th Street as part of an investigation.
Police said multiple people started shooting at them and officers returned fire. Possibly three suspects or more fled on foot from the house.
Soon, officers said they noticed the house had caught on fire. Details as to how the fire started are unknown. Local 10's Janine Stanwood reported firefighters had to back off the house because it is not secure.
A police perimeter was set up from 56th Street to 64th Street and 157th Avenue to 142nd Avenue. Local 10's Ross Palombo reported several random people were held at gunpoint in the confusion.
No evacuations have been ordered and police have asked residents to stay inside their homes.
The suspects' identities are not yet known. Authorities said at least three of them are at large, armed and dangerous.
No officer injuries were reported.
