The Florida Department of Transportation closed the southbound lanes of the Brickell Bridge for emergency repairs on Tuesday morning.
FDOT said the locking mechanism of the southbound span of the bridge was damaged during a test.
FDOT said that southbound traffic is currently being re-routed to eastbound SE 4th Street.
The detour then directs drivers north on Southeast 3rd Ave. west on Southeast/Southwest 2nd St., south on Southwest 2nd Ave., east on Southwest 8th St. to Brickell Ave.
