A suspect is now in custody after a police pursuit through Opa-locka during which shots were fired, according to authorities.
Opa-locka Police said they tried to stop a man driving a dirt bike and when the tag didn’t check out.
According to authorities, the driver drove down the Florida Turnpike and was later spotted by a police helicopter as it sped through traffic. The driver then crashed on the corner of Northwest 39th Street and Northwest 12th Avenue.
Police said they are now trying to determine how many shots were fired and who exactly used their gun.
“I just heard a big boom, so I ran out and I saw one of the police cars behind the dirt bike,” said Kuiundra Tanner, who witnessed the crash.
