Police charged a man in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 38-year-old woman in a Miramar neighborhood.

Emile Senghor, 24, was arrested Monday. Police said he stabbed Shuneeque Jones to death while she was walking her dog in the 2700 block of Sable Palm Drive about 4:30 p.m. Monday.

"She was approached by this individual. She started running away from this person, and unfortunately, he, based on witness accounts, dragged her down and started stabbing her," said Tania Rues with the Miramar Police Department. "Two knives were used."

Police officers who arrived found Jones lying in the roadway. Miramar Fire Rescue then pronounced her to be dead.

After the stabbing, police put the neighborhood on lockdown. They arrested Senghor shortly afterward, adding that Senghor's sister turned him in to police.

"My brother is inside and I think he had something to do with it," Senghor's sister said, according to a police report.

Senghor's sister also reportedly told police that he said he "had to do it" and that he walked into the home covered in blood.

Police also released 911 calls Tuesday.

"Somebody's getting stabbed in the street," said one caller. "Yeah, he's stabbing her."

The caller said the woman wasn't moving.

"Yeah, they're in the middle of the street," said the caller. "That lady is laying in the street. She's not moving. Send help quickly, please."

Police said that Senghor is a neighbor of Jones. Detectives believe there was no motive.
