Florida Atlantic University Police Department lifted a lockdown Thursday at the Boca Raton campus after an armed man robbed a woman earlier in the day.
The armed robbery happened about 1:10 p.m. in the Arts and Letters building. The lockdown was lifted about 4:10 p.m.
According to university officials, the robber put a gun to the victim's head and then ran off after taking some of the victim's things. It's unclear what was stolen.
"Of course we're all nervous," said Tori Gomes. "We kind of didn't know -- you always think the worst, but then you're like, 'Well, maybe it's nothing.'"
"We had cops come into our classroom, searching through our roster," said Kevin Muldoon. "It really was a big surprise to us all."
For several hours, police officers stopped and inspected cars entering and leaving the campus.
The robber is described as a black male about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a muscular build. He was last seen white pants, a white shirt, and a ski mask.
