A yacht a mile off Miami Beach caught fire Saturday, forcing three people on board to jump into the ocean before crews rescued them, the Coast Guard said.
The fire was reported around 10 a.m., just as crew members aboard the Coast Guard cutter Sitkinak were preparing to board the vessel to conduct a routine inspection.
The Coast Guard said it issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast and launched a boat crew from the Coast Guard Station in Miami Beach.
The three people in the water were rescued by the cutter Sitkinak small boat crew.
Coast Guard and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews verified no one was aboard the vessel Bliss and extinguished the flames, authorities said.
Bliss, an 80-foot motor yacht, was partially submerged after the fire was put out. Authorities said they were arranging to have it towed to shore.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
