Police are investigating the shooting death of a 20-year-old man inside a friend's mobile home in Hallandale Beach Saturday, according to authorities.

Investigators said the victim, Lazaro Cuesta, died on the scene.

The shooting happened at the Golden Trio Mobile Home Park near the intersection of Southwest 8th Avenue and 7th Street.

According to investigators, two suspects entered the home just after 10 a.m. and fired several rounds at the five people inside the home. Cuesta was the only one shot and killed, police said.

Hallandale Beach police told Local 10's Christina Vazquez they believe the pair's motive was robbery.

Police said they do not yet have leads on the suspects. Investigators said it appears the victim's friends know the shooting suspects. According to authorities, the friends did not initially cooperate with the investigation.

Lemoris Carroll, Cuesta's grandmother, told Local 10 it is hard for her to grasp the loss of her grandson, a young man who had dreams of becoming a Hallandale Beach Firefighter.

"He's gone," said Carroll. "I don't know for what reason."

Sonia Mendoza said she's known the victim since middle school.

"I was just shocked because I went to high school with him," Said Mendoza. "He was in the marching band."

Mendoza described Cuesta as a sweet and kind kid who loved to play the drums.

The two were members of the Hallandale High School marching band. Mendoza said Cuesta was part of the drum line.

"The marching band was his life. He was a good guy. Always smiling, telling jokes, and everything. He's so young. He had so much to live for," Mednoza said.

Carroll said her grandson was the youngest of four children and had been pursuing his goal to become a firefighter.

"He was a very well-liked person. Everybody knew him. Everybody liked him," said Carroll.
