Police said Miami-Dade transit worker, George Andrews, 48, was struck and killed by a Metrorail train Monday.
It happened just after 9 a.m. at the Earlington Heights Station at 2100 NW 41st St. Service was suspended for several hours.
Andrews was working outside on the tracks when incident happened, police said.
"There's lots of cops, lots of everyone just trying to figure out what's going on themselves," said Metrorail passenger Candace Burse.
Shuttles were brought in to move passengers from station to station as detectives worked the scene.
"I didn't know it happened here," said Monica Valiente who's daughter was on the train that hit the worker.
"I don't know if he fell off or if he was suicidal. I don't know. All I know is that she's late and she told me it's because of the train," said Valiente who had hoped to catch a train.
Teary-eyed workers could be seen showing up to the Metrorail station to try to learn more about what happened.
Miami-Dade police told Local 10's Terrell Forney that the incident appeared to be the result of a tragic accident and nothing more.
By mid afternoon, a team of workers from the Medical Examiner's office showed up to remove Andrew's body, creating an odd sight for passengers who were turned away at the gate.
The answers into figuring out what happened will likely come from witnesses and surveillance cameras mounted around the usually busy station.
Detectives will also examine a portion of a transfer track near the area where Andrews was found. The transfer track allows trains to move from one track to another. However, there's no indication it played a role in his death.
Full service on all Metrorail lines was restored around 3 p.m.
