The family of a man found shot to death in May pleaded for information in the case on Thursday.
Edward Carias, 41, was found fatally shot in the area of Northwest 28th Street and 23rd Avenue shortly after midnight on May 26.
According to investigators and his family, Carias had gone to a store nearby to buy cigarettes. He had $200 in his pocket after recently cashing a check.
Carias never returned home and his body was found in the street. Police said surveillance video showed two armed men chasing and shooting Carias.
"I'm pretty sure a lot of people know my brother because he grew up in Allapattah," said Astrid Carias, Edward's sister.
Near the stores around the busy intersection in Allapattah, residents and business owners have heard what happened. Local 10's Glenna Milberg spoke with the store owner who found Carias before dawn when he came to open his shop. He found Carias lying in blood and called police.
The store surveillance video is the biggest lead police have. But the brief chase and the one gunshot doesn't indicate why they would want Carias dead.
"Robbery, random act, retaliation. We are still looking at them, but as of right now it, looks like he was targeted," said Miami Police Detective T.C. Cepero.
"He got no enemies, never had a problem with nobody," Carias' sister told Local 10.
It was uncertain if Carias' family knew about his dozen or so arrests over the last two decades or whether any of his activities led to him being targeted.
