Fifth graders at North Miami's Oak Grove Elementary have a music teacher who was willing to take a leap of faith.
Elizabeth Flocker-Aming needed music stands, books, violins and a drum set for her students. So she tried something new: logging on to donorschoose.org and asking for it.
"I tried it out and immediately, I was funded," she told Local 10.
Within weeks, piles of instruments paid for by anonymous donors, started coming in.
The donations helped students like Gabriel who just picked up playing the violin last week.
"I was interested in the guitar at one point, but this year, I decided to do the violin," he said.
Donorschoose.org is backed by big names like Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gates.
