Three men accused of murder have been linked to a series of violent gold chain robberies across South Florida.

Dedrick Brown, Willie Barney, and Travares Santiago each face 1 count of first-degree murder; 2 count of attempted murder; 6 counts of armed robbery with a firearm; 1 count of aggravated battery; and, 1 count of aggravated assault.

"They pulled a gun on me, basically. There was nothing I could do. I just surrendered," said Joseph Trumble, who was robbed in Miami Shores on September 20.

Trumble said the three approached him with a gun and grabbed the gold cross and chain from around his neck.

"The guy that had the gun on me, he had in his eyes -- he killed before. You could see it in his eyes," said Trumble.

Two days earlier, police said the trio shot and killed Barrington Kerr for his gold chain.

"You never think it's going to come here to my front door," said Donna Kerr, Barrington's wife.

Kerr was talking to neighbors in Miami Gardens when police said the three men shot and killed him during the robbery. It was Donna Kerr's birthday.

"This is the devil's handyman. That's all I can say. "And, they don't know how many lives they shattered." said Donna Kerr. "He was a piece of my heart. We were married 30 years. For nothing. For a piece of metal."

Police said the most recent robbery was of Det. Herman Joseph, who was off-duty at the time, at a church at 6701 Northwest 7th Avenue in northwest Miami-Dade on September 22. Joseph survived the gunshot and called in a maroon Pontiac driving away, the link to the trio.

"They're stealing, they're robbing. They get the jewelry and they just shoot and kill," said Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. "This is not -- you and I would not relate to that decision making."

Prosecutors believe there are more victims.
