Joe's Stone Crab in South Beach reopened on Thursday.
"It's a very exciting year," Joe's COO Stephen Sawitz said in a news release. "My great-grandfather opened this restaurant in 1913. It's an honor and a privilege to be here, almost 100 years later, to open it up for another season."
Joe's Stone Crab began two years before the City of Miami Beach incorporated. the restaurant has been owned by the same family ever since.
Beginning in January, the restaurant will begin its formal recognition of the 100th anniversary. Preparations are already under way.

Doors opened at 4 p.m. Joe's does not take reservations.
