A wind chill advisory and a freeze watch have been issued for most of South Florida as a cold front takes aim for the area.
A wind chill advisory was issued for inland and metro Broward, inland and far south Miami-Dade, mainland Monroe, coastal and metro Palm Beach and coastal Collier counties for midnight Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Forecasters said temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-30s to lower 40s. Winds around 10 mph overnight are expected to reduce wind chills to the upper 20s to mid-30s.
Weather officials warned that low wind chills can cause hypothermia, and anyone who must be outside should wear a hat and gloves.
On Tuesday night, much of South Florida will be under a freeze watch as the cold temperatures continue. The watch was issued for inland Broward, inland and far south Miami-Dade, mainland Monroe, inland Palm Beach and coastal and inland Collier counties from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
The National Weather Service said lows could fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s in inland South Florida and coastal Collier County, threatening crops and other plants.
