A valuable search and rescue dog for Sweetwater police needs some help of his own today.
Around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Gunner, a 7-month old Bloodhound, disappeared from a police officer's home.
The department isn't sure if he was stolen or if he ran away. Either way, they are doing all they can to help bring him home.
"We've been canvassing the area for hours, we've had a helicopter, we've had Miami-Dade, multiple neighbors; probably 20 to 30 people in cars looking for Gunner. No one has seen him," said Jenna Mendez with the Sweetwater police.
Gunner joined the Sweetwater Police Department 2 months ago, after being donated by the Jimmy Ryce foundation. He is being trained to track missing children and senior citizens.
Police are asking for the public's help and say he may be in the Sweetwater, Homestead, or South Miami area.
