Firefighters battled a blaze at a gas station that was being demolished Friday morning.
According to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, a crew was in the process of tearing down the Texaco gas station.
They were working with a welding torch and something went very wrong, Local 10's Jeff Weinsier reported.
Witnesses say they heard a loud explosion, followed by smoke and fire.
When fire crews arrived, the structure was "fully involved" and there was a partial roof collapse, said spokesman Matt Little.
Firefighters got to the fire before it spread to a nearby shopping center.
No injuries were reported.
Sky 10 was above the scene at the 2-alarm fire at 1700 Cordova Road, just off Southeast 17th Street.
Southeast 17th Street is closed between 10th and 15th Avenues. Cordova Road is closed at 16th Street.
